Been a While...

Sat Feb 3, 2007, 10:18 PM
Long Time No Type

I know you don't care, but its been a long time since I wrote anything here; I haven't sent, responded, viewed or much of anything here for a while. The last time I wrote I was dreaming of the new 85mm f1.2 and now I have been using one for months. It is maybe the nicest lens Canon has ever made. Combined with my 5D it has of course made a perfect portrait setup, but more than that it has made low-light, selective focus work a dream to do; so many limitations have been removed by this lens for me.

My website has really been growing in the exposure and sales department. The mailing list of watchers that sign up for emails of image additions has now reached the 4 digits. I have also been given gallery space in two more retail locations. My favorite is a local coffee house called "Perkfection"; they have given me total control of what I show, sell and even the locations in the shop that has four different seating areas. All this is really the really the reason for my lack of interaction here at DA; I need to try harder because DA is special to me in many ways. I apologize to all of you who have been watching and commenting on my work, I appreciate it and will attempt to do better.

Every one keep up the good work you are doing and don't give up on your dreams; create what you feel no matter the reaction from others and if you have the same aspirations I did to put yourself out there and try to make a career of your art...DO IT!

Thanks for letting me know. I think you should just keep trying other styles until you really fit into a niche you like. And I'm not going to have enough money for an 85 for a long time.. ;) I think I will get a 35/2 or a 28/1.8 soon though.

I have a friend who has the 85 1.8 and really seems to like it. $339 vs $1800.00....definate option.

Haha yeah. We'll see. I think I need something more in the wide-angle department to get rid of my kit lens. :)

Ok...try this link and you can look at them all at once. I didn't mean to sound braggish, I promise, I have been very fortunate in my life and I have invested a lot in my equip. I have 4 L series lens to go with my 5D, my Rebel, and my trusty 25-year old AE-1, and I don't deserve any of it, but don't worry, once you have it you will want a Digital Hasselblad!! You have what you need right now; talent. A poloroid land camera is even a fine tool to an artist...

I hope you can get what you want soon.
